With SmartUSSING, setup is a breeze, and there’s zero learning curve. Each amplifier is automatically calibrated by the software, meaning that no manual calibrations are necessary. Just plug it in, and you’re ready to go. Training is fast, easy, and painless – even if you’ve never done electrophysiological experiments before.

SmartUSSING is a vertical, multi-chamber Ussing system that supports measurements from native tissue, including from the stomach, large or small intestine, gallbladder or urinary bladder, skin, trachea, nasal epithelia, cornea, and more. It’s also an excellent solution for research on both primary and secondary cell monolayers from primary sources, including renal tubes, the pancreas, salivary or sweat glands, IPSCs, and immortalized cell lines (including CACO-2 and MDCKr).

With an easy setup and user-friendly software, SmartUSSING dramatically reduces the possibility for errors, meaning more accurate data and more reliable results.

SmartUSSING supports up to 6 chambers per holder, and up to 4 SmartUSSING systems can be connected to the same computer – giving you the flexibility to run up to 24 chambers in parallel. You can conduct up to 24 totally separate experiments at once, or maximize throughput by running up to 24 repetitions of the same experiment simultaneously. We offer flexible packages that allow you to purchase only the chambers you need.

SmartUSSING drastically reduces the amount of manual configuration and overall technical knowledge required to set up your amplifier and create recordings within your software program, making it significantly faster and easier to launch your experiments and analyze data. Our software, USSING Control, works so well for biologists because it was designed by biologists. With fast processing and a user-friendly interface, USSING Control makes data collection easier than any other program you’ll ever use.

While traditional USSING systems require a separate set of amplifiers and AD converters, SmartUSSING utilizes powerful miniature amplifiers mounted directly to the back of the chamber holder – meaning a 50% reduction in footprint, as well as easier setup, shorter cables, and less noise in your recordings. It’s a win-win.

Increase the tissue dimensions by a minimum of 3.0 mm in each direction
to allow the o-ring or pins to capture the tissue without tearing.

For example, a chamber with a 5 mm round aperture will require a tissue with a minimum diameter of 8 mm,
and a chamber with a 2 x 10 mm oblong aperture will require a tissue with minimum dimension of 5 x 13 mm.
